I had the chance to sample some food from a kopitiam called Teh Tarik Place in Empire Shopping Centre, Subang Jaya recently. A friend of mine recommended this place for breakfast. He said the place looks like an unfinished house, and how true he is. The place is full of unfinished walls (you can see the bricks and cement) and furnished with some simple decorations. Weird but quite a nice experience.

The food menu is nothing to shout about and the same with other kopitiams. But the food that I wanted to try is the nasi lemak. It was mentioned that the nasi lemak tastes like the ones in the kampungs. Hey, it has been a while since I’ve eaten one.
Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken
The nasi lemak is just like any normal nasi lemak. The difference is in its taste. You can taste the smoky after-taste associated with cooking using firewood. Anyway, the experience is priceless. My grandmother used to cook it this way too!
Iced Cham and Teh Tarik
To satisfy our thirst, I’ve ordered iced cham (mixture of coffee and tea) and the usual teh tarik. The iced cham is not bad at all, not too sweet and not too bland. The teh tarik is a godsend!
