Ikan Kembung Dua Jiwa

Teman memang suka bebeno makan ikan2 laut, sebab teman tak makan ikan sungai atau ikan darat. Hanyir tak hingat punya (hanyor kata orang Perak).

Tempat lepaknya tak jauh mana, cuma sebelah rumah teman aje. Ada pulak kedai tomyam kat situ. Parkir senang, pergi ke situ pun senang. Ate, nak nengok bola pun senang, sebab skrin besor ada situ. Cuma gambornya kelabu le sikit sebab tokei kedai dah lama tak tukor bulb projektor tuh (jimat gamaknya). Nyamuk pun banyak.

Kalau kat kedei tomyam tuh, minuman feberet teman ialah teh ‘o’ ais laichi. Memang terangkat bila minum. Tak percaya, tanya le kekawan lepak teman tuh. Pekena plak dengan kerang bakor. Fuh, memang terangkat yop! Mak mertua lalu sebelah pun tak sedor!

Ikan Kembung Dua Jiwa

Minum udah order, appetiser pun udah order, cuma nak makan main course apa tak tau lagi nih. Bila nampak teman terkinjei2 menengok menu tuh, abang yang ambik order tuh cadang kat teman nasi putih dengan ikan dua jiwa. Terngangga mulut teman bila dengor ikan dua jiwa tuh! Memang terangkat! Tapi kenapa dema namakan ikan kembung dua jiwa tuh sebegitu, teman tak tau. Bila teman tanya abang waiter tuh, dia sengeh aje. Hairan.

Kekadang teman malas nak makan kat kedai tomyam tuh. Ate, banyak beno nyamuknya! Udah tempat tak berapa terang, nyamuk pun bermaharajalela la.Bila malas nak makan situ, teman bungkus aje (aka tapau) bawak balik rumah. Makan kat rumah lagi selesa, boleh makan depan TV sambil2 layan AF9.

Ate, tengok aje le gambor kat ateh tuh. Idak terlior lagi ke yop?

Liverpool Away Kit 2011/2012 Revealed!

As promised, Liverpool FC has revealed the away kit for its 2011/2012 season today. It will be up for an official revealing on May 12 and currently LFC is accepting pre-orders for the kit.

Thanks to liverpoolfc.com for the image

The shirt looks black in photos, but actually it’s solid grey with silver (the 3-stripes, crest and sponsor’s logo) and red trimmings.

In my opinion, the shirt looks stunning! I bet a lot of non-LFC supporters will buy this shirt for their collection. The shirt is simple, purposeful and elegant. Just like Liverpool FC.

I loike!

To all Nokia lovers: The new Nokia E6

Will be launching in Malaysia soon. E6 is using the new Symbian Anna OS. Discover more about the E6 here.

An Experience: Kafe Cheechah @ KD

First of all, I would like to apologise for the bad photos featured here. I have sold off my Nikon D5000 camera and also my backup (the Nokia E72) and now left with my old camera, the Canon IXUS 40. The Canon has some high mileage on it and it shows in the photos. Hopefully I’ll get a new camera next week.

Anyway, back to the topic for today. I went to Kota Damansara today and decided to try the new restaurant (or tapas, as it like to call itself).

Kafe Cheechah, the authentic Malaysian tapas

Going to Kota Damansara (KD) is not that difficult, but finding the restaurant is. Best bet if you got a GPS unit if you’re unfamiliar with KD. Parking is a serious problem there, and even the restaurant manager suggested that I double-parked nearby. I chose to park a bit further down and walk about 5 minutes to the place.

The deco inside the tapas is simple but elegant. To some people, the decorations are as important as the food. But to me, the food is more important, and as long as the decoration is pleasing to the eyes, it’s a-okay for me.

White rice with 'ayam masak merah'

Since it’s near lunch, I decided to try their lunch set. I wanted to try some Malay and Chinese food. Firstly, the ‘ayam masak merah‘, rice, vegetables, cucumbers and a slice of tomato. My verdict: Delicious, yet simple.

Cantonese Meehoon

The Cantonese Meehoon is to die for! It looks authentic enough to pass as the one from any Chinese restaurant.

Teh Tarik (as usual) and Teh Ais 3 Rasa

The drinks are okay, especially the exotic ‘teh ais 3 rasa‘. Same taste as the one at the mamaks.

Tauhu Bakar

I like my ‘Tauhu Bakar‘ slightly burned, hardened and the sauce spicy. The rendition by Cheechah is so-so.

French toast with kaya & butter

I never really liked french toast, therefore I can’t really comment on this.

Lempeng with curry and grated coconut

The ‘lempeng‘ with curry and grated cocunut is a godsend, but it’s better to get it during tea rather than lunch. But heck, it tasted wonderful nevertheless.

I’m unable to get the pricing for the food above as I’ve accidentally threw away the receipt, together with my RM10 bill. Anyway, in my opinion, the prices for Kafe Cheechah is quite reasonable and the portions are big. Definitely value for your money. A word of caution: The portion of my Cantonese Meehoon is so large, I’m unable to finish it (a rare occasion!).

Pros: Nice but simple decorations, moderate service, large food portion, inexpensive, great service by owner/manager, varieties of food on offer.

Cons: Parking might be difficult, the place is full during weekends (therefore, try to avoid going there on weekends), no air-con, people can smoke everywhere (bad place to be if you got babies on tow), difficult to understand what’s the waitress talking about (weird dialects).

You can visit the official Kafe Cheechah website for address, map and etc. Bon Appétit!

An Experience: Marmalade @ Bangsar Village (New Wing)

I dunno what really happened to me lately, but I like to try out new places to eat. It’s a seasonal thing to do. Maybe next month I’ll be doing something else. But for the time being, let’s explore some good places to chow some good food. Moreover, this week is my Food Week, and I’ll be blogging about food throughout this week.

Entrance to Marmalade

This time it’s Marmalade at Bangsar Village, Bangsar. At first, the place is a bit difficult to find as it’s situated at the corner of the 1st floor of Bangsar Village Shopping Centre. But once you’re there, you’ll find the cafe is nicely designed, airy and has this calming atmosphere. Definitely a recipe of success, no pun intended.

Cosy

In my opinion, if you wanted to gather some friends for a Saturday/Sunday brunch, this is the place to be. Based on my own observation, the place is nothing special compared to other cafes, but some friends did recommended this joint for its food. Therefore, without wasting much time there, we go straight to the food.

The Big Breakfast (also called 'The Works') cost RM28.00

Big breakfast consist of poached eggs, grilled mushrooms, baked beans, chicken sausages, baked potato and bread. Yum!

Chicken masala with pilaf rice cost RM20.00

Pilaf rice with chicken tikka masala, asian vegetables, masala sauce and a piece of papadom. Yum yum!

Coke Light with float (RM10.00) and orange juice (comes with Big Breakfast set)

It has been a while since I had a coke for brunch, but the coke light with float is spot on!

Black coffee with cookie (comes with Big Breakfast set)

The place is worth a visit, but do bring your family or friends along. It will be more fun and enjoyable. Well, eating alone is always sucks.

Pros: Nice environment, nice breakfast set, variety of local and western food, easy parking.

Cons: Some food are expensive, waiters not friendly enough, no smoking section, food rather cold when served, vegetables very dry.

Marmalade Kafe can be reached at Lot 1F-18, 1st Floor, Bangsar Village II, Jalan Telawi 1, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. For reservation, call 03-2282 8301.

Have fun!
