I was browsing around at Empire Shopping Gallery at Subang Jaya when I noticed that the Gallery management has put out a themed mock-up of a traditional Malay house right smack in the middle of the shopping centre.
The theme was called ‘Kampong Nostalgia”, which simply means nostalgic village. It was meant to bring out the Raya celebration mood to shoppers, and also for them to reminiscent the childhood days that they have left behind (or going back to during Raya).
The mock-up ‘kampong’ is decorated with synthetic coconut trees, a bicycle, some flowers decorations and decorative pots.
Around the house, people are setting up stalls selling traditional Malay ‘baju kurongs’, ‘baju Melayu’, sarongs and festive cookies.
This setting is by far the most original and accurate of any mock-up Malay traditional house set up by any shopping centres in KL. Kudos to the Empire Gallery management!
