My new Liverpool FC Scarf

Yeay! My very own LFC scarf!

As you have probably knew, Liverpool FC (LFC) is coming to KL and will play their first game against the Harimau Malaya this Saturday, 16th July 2011. This should be a memorable match as this is the 1st time LFC sat foot on Malaysia’s soil. But upon hearing that our skipper Steven Gerrard will not be coming, I have second thought of going. Nevertheless, I’m preparing myself for the match.

Adidas and LFC goes a long way...

If you managed to catch my previous post, you’ll see that I’m currently looking for a LFC scarf to bring to Bukit Jalil Stadium, as everybody else would bring theirs. It would be ‘nude’ without the scarf even if you got your jersey on.

Launched during the "Every Team Needs The 12th Man" campaign

I’ve been to almost all Adidas outlets in KL and PJ looking for the scarf but I guess they’re sold out (thanks to the incoming game). Well, I’m thinking of getting one before but have postponed it several times due to priority. Now I have found one!

Small leaflet

Every team needs the 12th man.

Made by Adidas

Proudly made by Adidas (not for long)…

Washing tag

…in Turkey. Material is from 100% Acrylic.

Year founded

The year LFC founded was imprinted permanently on the reverse side of the scarf.

The scarf and the jersey

Many thanks to my friend, Mr Bob Shukeri for making this a reality. This one looks way better than the one sold at Reject Shop.

Liverpool FC’s 3rd Kit – 2011/2012 season

New 3rd kit

Honestly, LFC’s 3rd jerseys are getting weirder each season. From a simple design like a training kit till the new 3rd ones. But the design sort of grows on you, and the more you look at it, the better it gets. But I just hates the blue essence on it. Make the kit looks like a Man City shirt.

As per liverpoolfc.com:

Liverpool FC and adidas have turned the clock back almost 120 years for the inspiration behind the brand new 3rd kit with the inclusion of Cyan Blue a throwback to Liverpool FC’s first ever home kit back in 1892 which incorporated alternate white and blue halves.

The design inspiration is taken from the classic tracksuit tops worn by the famous Liverpool teams of the mid 1980s, this brand new kit presents a modern look whilst giving a nostalgic nod to LFC’s illustrious past.

The kit is available for pre-orders now at LFC and kitbag, and will be officially launched on 14 July 2011.

FYI, LFC will wear their current home jersey until the end of 11/12 season.

Chelsea Home Shirt 09/10

Buying the latest football shirts (or jerseys if you like) from the current EPL season might empty your wallet faster than you can say credit card debt. One solution is to get the previous season’s shirts at the highest discount they can give. In my case, I bought this shirt at my favourite online store (read: kitbag.com) for only £15.00, and as usually it comes in outsize’s size (up to 8XL). I bought this shirt at 5XL, which is again, too large for me. Nevertheless, the shirt is already in my possession.

Nicknamed the Armour Shirt

As what Adidas mentioned in their press statement:

The new Chelsea Home Shirt for the 2009/10 season is once again manufactured by Adidas. A reflex blue colour the 09/10 Home Shirt has the white Adidas stripes on the shoulders and sleeve-ends. As with many new shirts currently being manufactured by Adidas there is a neat design touch which is what can only be described as rubber piping running down from the neckline, with the club name, in this case Chelsea FC written in white on it. The Chelsea Home Shirt 09/10 is complemented by blue shorts and white socks. The fabric used is ClimaCool which strives to keep players dry, cool and comfortable. The new home shirt was first worn on the 17th May against Blackburn, which was the penultimate match of the Premier League season 08/09.

Badge

I think the old logo looks better.

Still made by Adidas, till 2012

This Chelsea jersey clearly have a lot of holes on ‘em. Two advantages of these: the shirt is light and very airy (sweat won’t be sticking on your shirt). By having a very light and airy shirt, Chelsea footballers are able to concentrate on their football rather than on what they’re wearing. That’s very important in the business of football.

Made in China

Last season’s polo collar makes way for a streamlined neckline. Blue rubber piping printed with ‘Chelsea FC’ Extends from the centre of the neckline to mid-chest.

The brand with the 3 stripes

Chelsea FC is sticking with Adidas till 2011/2012 season, and probably will go to Nike for their next shirt sponsor. If they do that, then I’m in trouble, as Nike is known for making tight-fitting shirts. Even their 3XL is quite tight for me.

Chelsea FC Away Shirt 09/10

Recently kitbag.com has some out-of-season shirts for sale, and I decided to get the Chelsea away shirt from season 2009/2010 to add to my growing collection. The shirt is predominantly dark navy with a neon yellow highlight.

From Adidas:

The new Chelsea away kit for 2009/10 uses a tonal hoop in dark navy and new navy with a neon yellow highlight for the adidas 3 stripes, tipping on the collar and sleeves, giving a structured, stylish finish to the shirt. Engineered mesh in the fabric on the front of the shirt, coupled with the 3D Formotion cut allows complete freedom of movement. Waffled Climacool fabric and mesh paneling across major sweat zones will increase comfort and ensure players remain cool and dry. The shirt also has a new collar design tipped in neon yellow so giving a “v” neck impression with the Chelsea FC lion printed on the back of the neck.

Crew neck

The shirt looks nice with its dark colour, but the neon yellow highlight is something you have to get used to. The neon yellow is really visible from a distance, and at night too!

Authentic Chelsea FC badge on right chest

The Chelsea FC crest follows the same neon yellow highlight, which makes the crest looks different.

Chelsea FC by Adidas

Still made by Adidas since 2006. The contract will expires in 2011, and there’s a possibility that Nike will take over.

Shirt sponsor is still by Samsung

The shirt sponsor for CFC is still Samsung since 2007.

Shirt label

The shirt is made in China (some Adidas are made in Indonesia and Thailand). The size that I get is 5XL (yes, 5XL!), and according to kitbag.com, sizes are available up to 8XL (they called it outsize). Well, football supporters didn’t come in one size only and CFC is sensitive enough to cater its shirt for all the big sizers.

Basically 5XL is too big for me. I can’t really gauge the sizing as I never bought any shirt larger than 3XL. Some shirts are also different in term of sizing. I think 3XL or 4XL will suit me fine, considering the cutting of CFC shirt is a bit loose.

Ventilated CLIMACOOL® keeps me dry and comfortable

Climacool is cool!

100% polyester engineered

Fabric is 100% made from polyester (it’s not the recycle type like Man United’s shirt).

The lion logo at the back of neck

The lion logo is rather cool feature.

Adidas tag

BTW, if you must know, I bought the shirt online through kitbag.com for £10.00 (about RM80 including postage).
