Cupcakes @ Bisou Bake Shop

Yum, yum!

I love anything cupcakes, and I ate ’em all. Well, I dunno whether it’s the taste or look of the cupcakes, I just adores ’em. See the cakes in the photo above? I ate ’em in one shot.

I can count on one hand on how many times I passed by a cupcakes shop and not buy anything. I even watches DC Cupcakes on TLC, on a regular basis!

Well, this time it’s the cupcakes from Bisou Bake Shop in KLCC. They makes some really cool cakes, albeit some of it rather pricey. Wanna know the price of the cupcakes above? It’s a wallet-draining RM25 for 5 pieces! You might ask, why you wanna blow 25 buckaroos on some cupcakes? Well, it’s my stomach and I wanna filled it with cupcakes!

With the motto of “We let our cupcakes do the talking”, Bisou really have some fancy names for its cupcakes. From Chocolate Dimentia (WTH is that?) to Eye Candy, Ebony Ivory, Zest You Up, Red Velvet, Nutella, Vanilla Garden, Dotty (loves this!), Dark Secret, Blue B, Vanilla Sky and The Morning After (oh yeah!).

To me, there are two things that make or break a cupcake. First, the taste of the cake and second, the look of the cake. And Bisou have it both. I’m giving ’em three stars (***) out of five. My only hope is for them to sell it cheaper, so I can buy more.

Bisou Bake Shop can be contacted at 03-2166 5525 (KLCC) or 03-2287 3535 (Bangsar Village). Check ’em out too at www.bisou.com.my for more details on their cakes, cookies and cupcakes.

An Experience: Marmalade @ Bangsar Village (New Wing)

I dunno what really happened to me lately, but I like to try out new places to eat. It’s a seasonal thing to do. Maybe next month I’ll be doing something else. But for the time being, let’s explore some good places to chow some good food. Moreover, this week is my Food Week, and I’ll be blogging about food throughout this week.

Entrance to Marmalade

This time it’s Marmalade at Bangsar Village, Bangsar. At first, the place is a bit difficult to find as it’s situated at the corner of the 1st floor of Bangsar Village Shopping Centre. But once you’re there, you’ll find the cafe is nicely designed, airy and has this calming atmosphere. Definitely a recipe of success, no pun intended.

Cosy

In my opinion, if you wanted to gather some friends for a Saturday/Sunday brunch, this is the place to be. Based on my own observation, the place is nothing special compared to other cafes, but some friends did recommended this joint for its food. Therefore, without wasting much time there, we go straight to the food.

The Big Breakfast (also called 'The Works') cost RM28.00

Big breakfast consist of poached eggs, grilled mushrooms, baked beans, chicken sausages, baked potato and bread. Yum!

Chicken masala with pilaf rice cost RM20.00

Pilaf rice with chicken tikka masala, asian vegetables, masala sauce and a piece of papadom. Yum yum!

Coke Light with float (RM10.00) and orange juice (comes with Big Breakfast set)

It has been a while since I had a coke for brunch, but the coke light with float is spot on!

Black coffee with cookie (comes with Big Breakfast set)

The place is worth a visit, but do bring your family or friends along. It will be more fun and enjoyable. Well, eating alone is always sucks.

Pros: Nice environment, nice breakfast set, variety of local and western food, easy parking.

Cons: Some food are expensive, waiters not friendly enough, no smoking section, food rather cold when served, vegetables very dry.

Marmalade Kafe can be reached at Lot 1F-18, 1st Floor, Bangsar Village II, Jalan Telawi 1, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. For reservation, call 03-2282 8301.

Have fun!
